Indiana Jones and the Darabont Script
I addended a little link in my Indy 4 review yesterday to Frank Darabont's unfilmed draft, Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods, but Burbanked has a more extensive comparison:
Darabont deeply cared about the material, tried like hell to make it all work, achieved some fair measure of greatness - but also severely fumbled in many other ways.
Although his draft has some very fundamental differences than the final film, it does not, in the end, avoid a lot of the movie’s basic problems - most notably, why make this thing at all? And again, I think this basic problem falls on Lucas’ shoulders because Darabont is trying to juggle a lot of disparate story elements that have likely been dictated to him.
