CAST BIOS

RIC AVERILL ("Old Scratch")

Ric has been an inspiration in the Kansas Arts community for multiple decades. He's a founder and Artistic Director of the Seem-to-Be Players theater group, an accomplished composer, playwright and screenwriter and has also been an actor in numerous films, including Ang Lee's Ride with the Devil. His role in "Stull" marks the second time he's played a hobo in a John Ott-directed short film. One more for a hat trick!

KURT H. HANOVER ("Old Bull")

Kurt is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and often cast against type as the heavy.

Check out his turn as a villainous boxer (and boxing promoter) in Fight Night or as an unlikely torture victim in Patrick Rea's "Shed Out of Luck".

SOMMER BREICHEISEN ("Meredith"), TOMMY COTTIN, II ("Andrew"), JACOB MACK ("Roy"), LAURA WILLIAMS ("Leanne")

Unlike many Hollywood movies, the four teens in "Stull" were played by actual teenagers, all of them cast from the Lawrence area. While all of them had a good deal of theater experience, for each of them "Stull" marks a first appearance in motion pictures.

John Ott has studied film at USC, the University of Kansas and NYU, where he has a BFA in Dramatic Writing from Tisch School of the Arts. Since 2004, John has maintained the popular filmmaking website Making the Movie (www.makingthemovie.info). "Stull" is his first short film since graduating from NYU. He now lives in Los Angeles and works as an Avid editor. He will shortly be completing his first feature, a horror/comedy titled Natural Victims.

To read a director's statement and more about the making of the movie, visit the 'Stull' page on Making the Movie.

GREG HURD (Executive Producer)

Greg splits his time between t.v. and film producing and Presbyterean ministry. He has produced two features with Sundance director Kevin Wilmott, The Only Good Indian and The Battle for Bunker Hill (the latter of which he also co-wrote). Another script he co-wrote with Wilmott, A Love Supreme, based on the life of John Coltrane, is in development.

PATRICK REA (Producer/Assistant Director)

Patrick is a legend in the horror community, a prolific creator of horror shorts including the Emmy award-winning "Woman's Intuition". Patrick and his associates at Seno Reality Pictures are hard at work on a feature titled Nailbiter about a family trapped in a storm cellar with a monster.

HANUMAN BROWN-EAGLE (Director of Photography)

Hanuman is one of the most in-demand d.p.'s in the Kansas City area, having shot numerous commercials, shorts and features, including Fight Night (aka Rigged) and Patrick Rea's Nailbiter.
